Easter!

Quick Easter outfit post as I sit in my uncle's living room studying for my last exam. I am stuffeeeeed and I can't move. Today was such a nice day but I didn't really do much but study.  My family and I went to the Easter Vigil mass last night (it was 3 hours long!) so I literally took these pics in the morning so I can get it in good sunny lighting and I went back in my sweatpants #sorrynotsorry. So I bugged my mom to take pics of my dinner outfit... yes my mom takes most of my outfit of the day pics. She wants me to give her a shout out...Hi Mom.

Hope everyone had a great Easter :)

MAN CRUSH MONDAY #2

WELCOME WELCOME IT'S MAN CRUSH MONDAY AGAIN YAAAAAY

Did anyone watch MTV Movie Awards last night? No? Neither did I. I was too busy watching Game of Thrones and the #RoyalWedding. But I did however, hear about Zac Efron winning Best Shirtless Performance. Zac Efron has been hands down my MCM everyMonday since he was Troy Bolton okay.

MCM: Zac Efron- Actor and also like the Best Shirtless Perfomer like ever

Ok as if Best Shirtless Performance is a real thing that gets an award, nonetheless I am not complaining when Zac Efron wins it and gets his shirt torn off. I love Rita Ora but I didn't know whether to hate or love her more for getting to touch Zac but also all the while blessing us all with all these shirtless graciousness:

One Step Closer

I made the effort to actually get up at 5 am this morning to cram study for my philosophy final. I did stay up the night before "studying" (I almost reached the 4096 block on 2048!).  The exam was stupid hard to say the least and I was pretty bummed out after writing it only because I thought I could have studied more. But what can I, queen of procrastination really do about it now? I always do that and end up regretting it. Even waking up early this morning, my priority was looking for what to wear rather than studying the Hypothetico Deductive Method. I figured if I was going to fail, at least I'd look cute? Just kidding please, I do not want to fail, I need to gtfo and move on to bigger and better things. Nonetheless, all final exam hardships aside, today marked the end of my hell week. I finished two essays and an exam and now I get a little bit of a break until my next and last undergrad exam eveeeeer.

Today was also the first time I ever used all of the 2 hours given to write a final. As soon as our prof came to grab our papers, my first words were literally "I need a drink." It was just that exhausting lol.   So a friend and I took a little stroll down Queen street, did a little bit of shopping, had some beers and got yummy macarons from Nadége. It was a beautiful day again in Toronto! But nothing beats the peace and quiet for now. I have nothing to worry about and nothing to do but to catch up on Suits and Vampire Diaries! Best Friday night ever.

Oh yeah, and we also took OOTD pics.
Duh.

Another Sunny Day

I've spent the last 4 days inside my house watching the beautiful sunny days pass by from my bedroom window because it is HELL week. With two 10-page essays due and an exam by the end of the week, I had no choice but to stay inside. Well, today I got a little bit of free time and so I decided to finally get out of my Pjs and maybe put on some makeup and step outside for like 2 minutes.... that's of course before going back inside the library and dying again for the whole day. I'm not complaining because I actually did not even need to wear a jacket outside today. Yay for the nice weather! I hope it stays next week when I have allll the freee timeeeee. I just want to eat ice cream and walk on lakeshore with my buddddd. It all seems like wishful thinking for now. Until then, I have to punch out another essay, wish me luck!

MAN CRUSH MONDAY #1

MCM: Nick Bateman- Actor, Producer, International Model, All around hottie and King of my heart.

I would usually try to explain my reasons for my thinking with words but I'll use visual representation this time.

Reason #1: His smile.

Here Comes The Sun

IT IS BEAUTIFUL OUT TODAY. Could it be that spring is actually here?! After this long, tiring and downright depressing winter season filled with ice storms and -45 degree weather, the sun is finally here. I couldn't help but drive with my windows down and blast my Beatles literally playing Here Comes The Sun. Aside from the weather being gorgeous, today is a very special, dear day. Because this is the day that I have been waiting for since last June: Game of Thrones season premiere!!!!!!
Please forgive me that despite this amazing day, I am instead having a Game of Thrones marathon as I punch out a 10-page essay (priorities and multitasking ok!). I am so so so so excited, I just finished the first Game of Thrones book which was only the first season so I still haven't caught up in books as to what's going to happen this season. But oh my goodness, after the season finale (well Red Wedding was not the season finale but the actual season finale wasn't nearly as eventful) I am rooting for my girl Daenerys Targaryen to finally prove how much a of a bawse she is.

That throne totally suits you gurl!
Another thing I'm sexcited for this season is Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) as he apparently said that he would like to be part of more nude scenes and my feelings about this: yes. Agreed. Give Kit Harrington what he's hoping for because as much nudity as there is in this series, Jon Snow has had the least! How is that fair? As much as it is mind boggling that almost half of season 2 was Peter Dinklage/Tyrion Lannister in a brothel, it is even more mind boggling that Jon Snow has only had one sex scene. No one loses in a world where Kit Harrington is showing a little bit more than usual ;)

The Art of Letting Go

We don't fully appreciate people that go through struggles until we struggle on our own. Change starts from within and whatever cliche and corny things you hear about moving on and letting go becomes true. There is no one better to help you move on but yourself. In my struggle, my heart has been damaged beyond the point that I can even take. It's starting to consume my life and affect others that care about me. Because in this battle I am my worst enemy. I don't like to speak about my struggles so when I crash after keeping it all inside me, no one has an idea why it's happening. I'm coping after all from what they think. In this time, I've taken a look at my life and reevaluated the things I need to let go and the things I need to keep carrying with me. Might be completely vain but simply being honest, I trust myself the most with decisions I make. I know that a lot of times in the past and now and for the future my decisions aren't ultimately the best. However, my decisions are still what is going to make me feel more comfortable in the situation. In truth, I have instilled this demon of my own self and all my insecurities and failures as much as they are caused by others, they are also caused by me. At this point I am left with no choice but fight all of that. So like I said, even though my wonderful friends and family try to help me with my problems by giving me advice, I will still at the end of the day make my own decisions that are just what makes me feel better, and these days it's hard to dig around the cut that isn't even scabbing yet. It's so fresh that any move I make close to it traumatizes me. So I don't like to talk about what happened and what caused this whole struggle and whole pit that I am in.

Snip Snip

I DID IT! I did it and I cannot be any happier. I was so scared of cutting my hair because of the many times I cut it even just 3 inches and got super anxious. But you know what, I'm 21 and not 17 anymore crying about my messed up bangs and 4 inches off. I originally wanted to cut my hair before fashion week so 2 weeks ago, I was sitting at my hair dresser's and decided that I couldn't do it just yet and I said something like "my hair is actually my best accessory" so I got the basic trim which only took 3-4 inches off. But I was ready for a bigger change. It sounds ridiculous but last night, I tried this dress on that looked hideous with my long hair. So, my hair isn't my best accessory after all. I woke up this morning, ran to my kitchen and told my mom we need to get haircuts like, today, like now. I didn't even have time to tell my friends. I just needed it off. I decided to chop 12 inches off and donate it to Locks of Love. Right when Peter (my hairdresser) cut that braid off, I felt instant relief, as he put my hair in front of my face I was shocked at how much I didn't even hate or feel badly about it. In fact, I was all smiles seeing my transformation.

Obviously, I went home and tried that dress on again. Round of applause for good decisions. I am absolutely in love with my hair short, I just don't wanna get carried away cause I'm already feeling like I should have gone shorter!

Fall!

I have completely lost track just when I started on this blog. The end of summer and the beginning of school left me no time to write on this. Particularly, the lack of eventful things has regretted me any interesting topics to write about. But anyway, I guess I shall start by what I have been loving lately.

I must say that I am not a big fan of fall/autumn weather because I hate winter and I always blame fall for making winter come. I guess I like the changing trees and the lovely pumpkin flavored/scented everything (LOVE pumpkin). Oh and Halloween, I love Halloween! But like I said, fall makes me sad because it's cold and the sun sets way too early. But I am obsessed with fall fashion! I don't think I can express and wear it as much as I love it only because I do not have enough  clothes, accessories, makeup etc etc to live up to fall fashion.  However I do try.

So far, what I've been wanting and needing in my closet are some rich burgundies, ox blood, evergreen and camel tones. I'm also on a hunt for the perfect two toned riding boots and black leather heel booties.

Summer Face Faves

I'm not one to wear make up in the summer. I prefer to just come out of the shower and slab on some moisturizer on my face and stay like that the whole day. The sun is my definitely my friend and enemy while it tans me, it also melts off my make up so I don't even bother. However, on some days when I felt like putting something on these products were the only ones I depended on.

From top left: Clinique's dramatically different moisturizing lotion. This is my holy grail. I've been using this since I was 12. It was my mom's favorite and I often stole it from her. In any season actually, not just the summer, this is the only moisturizer I trust. I don't think I've really tried any others but this definitely saves my skin.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun screen SPF 70. I know I will be very frowned upon but I don't use sun screen as often. I have a lot of this sun screen laying around in my house so I kind of just pick it up from time to time. The one time I used it for a week, I got rashes on my face and I'm not entirely sure if it was this that caused it but I never really used it for that long ever again. Nonetheless, if I need sun screen I always reach for this one and I heard people really liking it, as for me, it's a meh.

Maybelline Dream Mousse Matte Concealer. I'm all about lighter make up in the summer, like I said I prefer going out bare faced, but with summer I haven't been getting enough sleep and concealer is really needed in some occasions. This concealer is the best, it's the lightest and it has a nice matte finish. I like my concealer lighter than my skin tone so I have this in Medium. Often times I just put on my moisturizer and this on my under eye circles and I'm good to go!

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner.  I also don't like wearing eyeliner in the summer... haha. But if I must, it has to be waterproof. Some eyeliners lie about it being waterproof or they are simply not waterproof enough. But I took this baby to the Philippines and I sweat buckets and walked in rain, tanned etc. and it stayed on! I love it. I did not go swimming with this on simply because I wouldn't swim with make up on but I feel like it would stay on if I went swimming with it.

Bottom left: L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm. (In Pink Satin) This was something I did constantly wear. I would rave about this to everyone because it's so good! It's literally like a lip balm. It's very sheer which I like.  It was like a slight gloss without being sticky or dry. I say that it's literally like a lip balm because in comparison to Revlon lip butter which is supposed to be like a lip balm as well, this definitely worked and showed the balmy part better. I find that Revlon lip butters often dry on my lips after awhile but this definitely didn't. I used it as regularly as my Burt's Bees or Vaseline.

MAC Blush in Desert Rose. I totally ditched the bronzer this whole summer. After a few sun bathing sessions outside I realized that if I bronzed my face any more I would look like an oompa loompa. I'm not a fan of heavy bronzing in the summer though I am all for it in the winter. I love this blush most especially because it's the perfect rosey pink for my skin tone. It brings out my natural bronze and it's not overwhelming or cakey.

Maybelline Turbo Volume Waterproof Mascara. I only trust Maybelline mascaras to be super reliable. This is no different. It's the only mascara I used this whole season that I knew wouldn't melt off my face. I often used this in the hot temperatures of the Philippines and I still had a hard time taking it off at the end of the day. Mascara is probably one thing that I would really feel that I need if I ever decided to put on make up and look decent during the day haha.

To Start Things Off

I am loving the Olympics this summer. Not mentioning that I am always crying during those emotional podium moments, I can almost imagine myself standing there with my life long dream finally coming true. Just kidding. I'm a sucker for emotional moments like those. To be in the Olympics is already an accomplishment for all of the athletes representing their country there right now.

Here are my favorite podium babies so far:

Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas, USA, Artistic Gymnastics

From the beginning, Gabby captured my heart with her huge smile. I just felt that other gymnasts had this very stern look on their faces that made them look tense most of the time. Gabby however is always flashing her pearly whites. She was extraordinary in her floor exercise where she won her first personal Olympic gold medal. I couldnt take my eyes off the TV while she did her routine! My mouth was dropped open and I could not believe she that 1: was 16, 2: she's that flexible and 3: she's that FLAWLESS. I'm telling you... Just being a gymnast in general already impresses me but to execute moves like Gabby did that day was absolutely crazy and a thrill to see. Even I was proud of her. Watching it alone in my living room I was sad that I could not share that moment with anyone, but Twitter assured me that I was not imagining her perfection during that routine. Even though Russia followed her after and was pretty damn good as well, I think Gabby definitely deserved the gold.

The whole US "women" (which they are hardly at age 16-18) gymnastics team consisting of above, Gabby Douglas, 16, Jordyn Wieber, 17, McKayla Maroney, 16, Kyla Ross, 15 (16 in October) and Alexandra "Aly" Raisman, 18 was my top favorite for gymnastics even though Canada did qualify for all around.  I am not American but you will see that I picked mostly Americans as my favorites. Sorry Canada! I am default rooting for you anyway in any other event... Sometimes. They were super cute in their pink leotards too!!!

Ruta Meilutyte, Lithuania, Swimming

I don't know who cried more during her medal ceremonial, me or her? Ruta Meilutyte at age 15 gets Lithuania's first Olympic medal of any kind (which happened to be gold...) in swimming. I think I loved her more because she wasn't the expected winner for her race.  She competed in the 100m breastroke event which everyone thought people's favorite US swimmer Missy Franklin would win. Ruta's podium moment as she glanced at the stadium full of people with tears streaming down her face in awe and disbelief of her capabilities just jerked on my heart strings. At 15 she is only starting. She is not even in her prime yet and I am so looking forward to seeing her in the next years to come.

Marcel Nguyen, Germany, Artistic Gymnastics

Oh Marcel Nguyen... What can I say? I guess I should start off with his totes amazing performance at men's individual all around I mean he really worked that pommel horse and bars. I almost didn't pay attention to anyone else. Well I wasn't paying attention to anyone else cause I was too busy googling pictures of him. He is a living proof that gymnastics make you a damn good of a man just like any other sport. And though the Chinese snatched the gold, I think Silver looks better on him anyway ;)

Oh and this is what I found on google:
....hi.

Mo Farah, Great Britain, Track and Field

He probably had the best victory reaction. I mean, I would too if I finish first and alive in 10,000m. Not going to lie it was getting boring watching the runners run laps around the track. He sure made it interesting by sprinting and I mean SPRINTING his heart out for the last few meters of the race. Hence his face at the very end when he realized he won. The best moment of his win was when his family came out. His daughter is so precious. I can relate with the daddy's little girl and I almost teared up ... again. Family first! Him and his wife have another one in the way which paints a happy family picture and I'm just a sucker for those feel good moments.

Baby Ryan Lochte, USA, Swiiiiimmmiiiing ;)

I almost have no words for Ryan. Since Beijing, Michael Phelps always ruled my world and Ryan was always there but not quite as special to me as Michael was. Maybe growing up really changed my perspective on MEN. Because my oh myyyyyy Ryan is grown. He's 27. He has to be. But sometimes he wears those grills that I just disapprove of. Anyway, more on his accomplishments. Ryan and Michael were really the ones to talk about this year in London. They have this playful rivalry, competing for the same team but on the other hand also competing for personal achievements. It's always really hard for me to watch them compete with each other just because I don't really know who I want to win. But boy is it not a show when they compete with each other?! Ryan succeeded in defeating Michael in 400m individual medley and not just by a little bit, Michael actually placed 4th in that race and was completely off the podium. Nonetheless I was very happy for my baby Ryan because he really showed it off there ;)

 Michael Phelps, USA, Swimming, DUH.

And of course. Michael Phelps. Pre-olympics I thought I outgrew all my teenage tendencies to scream and cry over Phelpsy. Nope. My dream was still alive and every time I saw Michael about to race my heart was beating like IIII was about to race. He is still absolutely amazing. Safe to say I relived my 16 year old memories of watching him compete in Beijing in 2008. Nothing has changed. I still love him and still root for him just the same, even with Ryan there like mentioned above. I never knew who I wanted to win but deep inside I was more happy when he Phelps won. I was so proud of him when he got his 16th gold medal beating Ryan in the 200m intermediate medley, still showing everyone that he STILL has it despite losing to Ryan in the 400m IM. He also has the perfect All-American Boyish smile. Who can resist that?! He was breaking records and making history in London this year and I was just so happy to see him accomplish that.

And last but not the least, also has to do a lot with Phelpsy, my favorite podium/victory moment:

The manliest team hug award goes to team USA. Don't you love team hugs though? I most especially do. Here is Matt Grevers, Brendan Hansen, Michael Phelps and Nathan Adrian after their W in the 400m Medley Relay. Super great team effort here by every swimmer. I obviously love it when Michael Phelps does the butterfly. It was a bittersweet moment because I knew it was the last time he'd be swimming in the Olympics this year and also, it might also be or it IS the last time he'd be in the Olympics period. I sort of didn't want him to get out of the water. But I mean, that was just that. That easy, he won another gold. US got another gold. And the rest is literally history.

I love the American swim team all of them.

And that's all for my Olympic ramblings for now! There are 4 more days to go!

xo.

Welcome!

Today embarks the new journey of my new blog. Here I hope to share all that interests me in hopes that if I open this window, you might just peek in.

I must warn you that I am a girl with a vast amount of interests. When I think about it, I may not be that typical, but if thinking that I'm not typical is typical then again, I may be. I ramble and I rant about simple things that I make complicated. However, this blog will barely scratch that personal surface. Here, I will choose to share and write about the greatest things I enjoy in my life at the moment.

I can't say what my blog will specify only that I will feature everything that interests me which usually circulates around the Lakers (and everything about the Lakers), beauty and fashion, school, DIY, trends and most especially: FOOD.

I initially wanted to choose walkinmyheels as my domain name but after getting shut down by its unavailability I came up with "heartonmyheels".  I wish there was a deeper reason for my blog name but really, I realize that I do wear my heart on my heels. I tend to go wherever I think it's a good place for me to be and I always itch to walk and go somewhere else. I dream to travel the world one day! oh and I also love heels. Double entendre! Hehe. But here it is. A sneak peek of my life through my interests.

Enjoy :)
